Does Botox & Filler replace skincare?

The use of botox and fillers has exploded in recent years, and the industry is worth more than $5 billion- and this number is expected to only increase.
So how do injectables fit into someone's skin routine, and do they replace the need for skincare?
What are injectables?
When injected into the area Botox (Botulinum Toxin), can temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles.
While Botox can be effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily paralysing facial muscles, it doesn't replace skincare because they serve different purposes. Botox provides a quick fix for dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movements such as frowning, but it doesn't address other skin concerns like dryness, texture, pigmentation, and overall skin health.

Fillers are primarily used to add volume to specific areas of the face, such as lips or cheeks, to reduce the appearance of wrinkles or enhance certain features temporarily. While fillers can provide immediate results for volume and wrinkle reduction, similarly they do not address the root causes of skin issues or promote long-term skin health.

The role of skincare
Skincare, on the other hand, focuses on nourishing and improving the skin's condition and overall health, promoting long-term benefits such as hydration, collagen production, and protection from environmental damage. It is the first and most crucial step when it comes to preventing and treating the signs of ageing, and achieving beautiful, healthy skin. Skincare can also help prevent and treat the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, which may curb or delay the need for injectables in the first place.
To use injectables is a personal choice. At Status Quo we support everyone's choice to do what makes them feel good. However it is important to note that injectables to not replace a skincare routine. Before using injectables, we would recommend that you first establish a high quality, consistent skincare routine- including a sunscreen- that treats and prevents the visible signs of ageing, nourishes and hydrates your skin, and strengthens your skin barrier.
